Launching a new brand in under 7 days
Whew, it’s been a busy week. First, huge thanks to everyone who has reached out, shared, liked, commented, etc. on launching my new venture, Wavy Days Marketing. There are so many people I can’t wait to talk to and potentially work with. Meetings are lining up and I’m extremely grateful!
I wanted to answer some questions people have asked, such as: how did you come up with the name, or how did you get a clean website up so quickly, etc. So here’s a quick recap of how it all came to fruition.
Choosing a name for my new marketing services company was a bit challenging. I decided last Friday that the first requirement was securing a professional email domain, as juggling multiple personal Gmail addresses while trying to do business had become cumbersome.
Initially, I considered naming it after myself—Sullivan King Consulting (or similar). But, I couldn’t come up with a name that felt right. Also, I wanted the name to be more inclusive, especially if I need to hire people in the future. 🙂
Next I considered a regional name… but that didn’t stick either.
My next thought was to find a name that resonated with one of my hobbies— either gardening and beach themed. To help brainstorm, I turned to ChatGPT. I love using ChatGPT for brainstorming because it provides so many creative suggestions. It generated 20 variations for each topic (gardening or beach terms), and from there, I began to refine the ideas. That took a bit of time, because you need to look up each name to see if it has a dot com, or if there are any other companies with the name.
One of the suggestions that stood out was "Wavy Marketing." The term "wavy" resonated because it reminded me of the fluctuating nature of Google Analytics reports—In B2B, the weekend dips are “low-tides”... “high-tides” during the week. You know, wavy days… Wavy Days Marketing…
Plus, "Wavy Days" sounded similar to "lazy days," which aligns with my philosophy that great marketing should create a tailwind, allowing you to have more leisure time. The idea is to operationalize your Marketing so efficiently that you can afford to have lazy days.
I used GoDaddy to secure the website (www.WavyDaysMarketing.com) and email address (Michelle@wavydaysmarketing.com).
Next focus: building the website. I had already signed up for HubSpot CRM on Friday because it was free and offered the basic features needed to manage my contacts, meetings, and pipeline. It made sense to use HubSpot's Website tools. I used their “AI driven content creation” feature, and within 2 minutes (?), had a functioning website that only required minor messaging tweaks to align with my vision. Very straightforward. Amazing, really.
So with that, Wavy Days Marketing is open for business. With a solid foundation and a name that perfectly encapsulates my brand vibes, the final steps will involve creating consistent content and clearly defining the contract services I offer within B2B Marketing Operations and Social Media Strategy. Stay tuned…
